47-year-old Summit Man arrested for Drunk Driving
Last Friday, Ptl. William Fettes went to the area of Mountain Avenue and Murray Hill Blvd. to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident at 1:13 a.m. On arrival, he saw an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the roadway which had struck a tree. Ptl. William Fettes found that it was a 2008 Land Rover.
After some time, officers found 47-year-old Patrick J. Browne walking on Central Avenue in New Providence. Further investigation showed that the 2008 Land Rover belongs to him. It was also clear from the condition and behavior of Browne that he was driving the vehicle while under the influence. Browne belongs to Summit.
Browne was arrested and brought to the police headquarter for further investigation and processing. He was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
Sources told that Browne was released after he was given a date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court.
