A New Jersey insurance company suing Manville bar over drunk-driving accident
MANVILLE – A New Jersey insurance company is taking Manville bar to court for an alcohol-related crash that occurred in 2011.
In Superior Court in Somerville, the lawsuit was filed last week which discussed that Northside Lounge served alcohol to Kozik when he was drunk over the limit and allowed Kozik to leave the bar when they knew that he was under the influence of alcohol and he was a danger for the people on the roads.
State Farm is seeking compensation from Northside Lounge on Brooks Boulevard for the cost of treating its policyholder, who was hit from behind in the early hours of 1st of August 2011 by an impaired driver named Justin A. Kozik, who was driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC level over the legal limit. The accident happened on Weston Road in Hillsborough.
On Wednesday, Northside Lounge didn’t comment. It was not clear if it had an attorney.
The bars and restaurants in New Jersey can be held responsible for accidents in which alcohol is involved. In 2011, it was decided by the state Supreme Court that drivers convicted of drunk driving can also sue the establishments that served them.
