Central NY Teen Sent To Prison For Fatal DWI Crash
Here is a tragic story all the way around.
WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. — An 18-year-old woman has been sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison for vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for a crash that killed her friend and critically injured another driver last May.
Chelsea Lynn Kuss of Syracuse was sentenced Monday by Madison County Judge Biagio DiStefano, who said Kuss drank three cans of Four Loko, an alcoholic beverage with caffeine, before the May 24 crash on Route 31 in Sullivan. The accident killed 17-year-old Victoria Deverso of Liverpool and critically injured Peggy Blume of Bridgeport, who had pulled onto the shoulder when she saw Kuss’s vehicle coming.
Witnesses said Kuss said she was “a good drunk driver” when she got behind the wheel of her Trailblazer. She was traveling 84 mph at the time of the crash.
