Driver Faces DUI in Crash That Injured Officer
MONROE TWP., N.J. – An individual has been charged by the officials for DUI after an accident that injured a police officer in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of South Black Horse Pike and Forest Drive.
According to the authorities, Monroe Township Patrolman Anthony Vezza was conducting a traffic stop on the westbound shoulder when an SUV hit hiss cruiser and then him.
Police identified the driver of the SUV as 33-year-old Jesse J. Petryk. According to the police, he was driving while intoxicated.
Vezza was taken to Cooper University Hospital as he suffered a broken leg and knee. Now he is in better condition.
2 individuals who were riding in the vehicle that was stopped were taken to Kennedy Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Petryk is now facing driving under the influence charges as well as 3 counts of assault by auto.
Police is investigating the incident.
