Drunk driver calls friend who gets DUI who calls drunk friend who gets a DUI
Carmen Reategui, 34, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, called a friend to pick her up after she was taken into custody for driving under the influence and her friend showed up drunk and was also taken into custody for driving under the influence, according to the shaking-my-damn-head-worthy scary-as-hell news. They called a 3rd friend and he was also drunk and was also charged with DUI.
On 16th of December, Reategui was pulled over at about 1:45 a.m. after she was observed to be driving erratically on Route 22 East at Route 523, according to the Hunterdon County Democrat. Reategui was issued a series of standardized field sobriety tests which she failed and was taken into custody. Then she was taken to the headquarters for processing where she was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in her lane and failure to provide a vehicle insurance card.
Reategui called her friend Nina Petracca to come pick her up from the station, after being processed. 23-year-old Petracca arrived at the station and while an officer was explaining the potential liability form required for Reategui’s release, he observed signs of intoxication.
Petracca drove to the station so the police officer had her perform sobriety tests in the lobby and she failed the test. She was taken into custody for driving under the influence and when officers searched her purse, they found an unlabeled container with 7 Vicodin pills so she was also charged with possession of Vicodin and driving while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Both Reategui and Petracca then called 33-year-old Ryan Hogan of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, to come pick them up from the police station. Police observed the smell of alcohol on her too. Hogan, after reaching the station, showed signs of intoxication and she also failed a sobriety test. She was then taken into custody for driving under the influence.
The 4th person to arrive was sober apparently and all 3 were released in the custody of an adult. They are summoned to court in January.
Carmen didn’t share details but she posted a status about the unfortunate evening on Facebook and her DUI friend Nina liked her status. Later, Carmen posted a status saying, “Heavy…Heavy heart. Wish there was an undo button in life”.
So far no mug shot photos have surfaced of any of the three individuals who were taken into custody.
