If you plead guilty or are found guilty after trial in New Jersey of DWI and your blood alcohol reading (BAC) was .15% or higher the court must impose an ignition interlock device as part of your sentence. This ignition interlock device will remain in your car for no less than 6 months nor no more than one year. The term that the ignition interlock remains in your vehicle is at the judge’s discretion. This is for a first DWI offense.
