New Jersey DUI Attorney Discusses Expert Witnesses
In New Jersey if you’re charged with a DWI or DUI, in certain instances we will hire an expert. An expert in a DWI case is ordinarily a former New Jersey state trooper or a police officer. Some are former drug recognition experts. There are several that I’ve used in the state of New Jersey. They can be used to review the discovery, and to write an opinion as to the deficiencies in the way the case was investigated, and that can be used in a potential plea with a prosecutor.
As a New Jersey DUI Attorney, I’ve used experts in trial testimony where they can listen to the testimony of the police officer after reviewing the discovery, and then have an opportunity to testify and qualify as an expert. They will try to debunk some of the information that the officer gave and to discredit the way in which an officer performed and demonstrated a field sobriety test in order to reach a not guilty verdict.
