New Jersey man gets DUI for driving burning truck
LAKEHURST, N.J. – Michael Newmon, 36, has been charged with DUI who was driving a burning and tireless box truck. The 2 front tires of the truck were missing, according to the authorities.
On Saturday at about 3 a.m., Newmon was hanging out of the window of the truck when he was pulled over by the police, told Lakehurst police to the Asbury Park Press. The windshield was shattered. Tree branches were caught in the truck and the branches were also burning.
As the truck was without front tires, Newmon was driving it on its rims. Police pursued the marks left in the road and they traced Newmon’s journey about 15 miles to the Route 70/Route 72 circle in Burlington County. Police officers found the truck had driven across the circle, hit a tree and drove through the bushes. Smoke was coming from the bottom of the truck.
After his arrest, the truck was seized by the police officers.
