Northern New Jersey man sentenced in fatal drunk driving crash
HACKENSACK, N.J. – 51-year-old Heriberto Calles of Englewood has been sentenced to 7 years in state prison after a fatal crash caused by him while driving under the influence last year.
Calles has to spend nearly 5 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole.
In January 2012, the accident was caused by the irresponsibility of Calles in which 2 of his passengers were killed and 2 others were harmed. He also suffered critical injuries in the accident. His vehicle got out of control on a curve in Englewood according to the Bergen County authorities and before crashing into a cluster of trees, it jumped a curb.
He was charged with vehicular homicide and this year, he pleaded no contest to the charges.
