Officer Luca Piscitelli with Bloomfield Police honored for DUI arrests
It is reported that Officer Luca Piscitelli will receive the Top Gun Award from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public safety, Division of Highway Traffic Safety on April 24.
This is a special award which is given to the leader in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties. The award is given to the officer that makes the most drunk driving arrests in their respective county.
According to the department’s record, officer Piscitelli made 37 DUI arrests in 2012, surpassing the 21 arrests he made in 2011. In 2011, he was also presented with the top Gun Award for Essex County.
Moreover, in 2010, in addition to his “Top Gun” awards, Officer Piscitelli was awarded with a Letter of Recognition by the Attorney General’s Office for the 20 DWI arrests he made that year. Officer Piscitelli has also received 5 Letters of Commendation from the Bloomfield Police Department.
Here are some highlights of Officer Piscitelli’s life:
He was born and raised in Bayonne and graduated from Bayonne High School in 1999. After that, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from Montclair State University in 2003.
On March 17, 2006, Officer Piscitelli was sworn-in as a Township of Bloomfield Police and he graduated from the Essex County Police Academy on August 11, 2006. He was the topper of his class.
Since his graduation, he has taken classes and received certifications in radar operating, traffic accident investigation, crash scene investigation, field sobriety testing, crash reconstruction, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement and Tactical Combat Casualty Care.
The ceremony of award giving, named as New Jersey Remembers ceremony, will be held at the Trenton War Memorial at 1 Memorial Drive in Trenton on April 24, at 11 a.m.
