If you have been arrested for a crime, your lawyer may be able to arrange a deal with the judge. Watch this video to learn how plea bargaining is handled.
What is a plea bargain and should I accept it?
If you have a criminal case, a traffic case, or a DWI in the state of New Jersey and you’re being offered a plea bargain it’s really up to you to decide whether or not it’s a good deal. A plea bargain allows you to resolve your case without going to trial. The best way to figure out if it’s the right choice is to know, first of all, what you’re facing if you’re convicted of those original charges, and how that stacks up to the proofs and the likelihood that you’d be convicted if you went to trial. Compare all that to the plea bargain, and then have an experienced local attorney go through that matrix with you so you can figure out whether the plea bargain is good.
