Interviewer: What are the most common prescription drugs you encounter in your cases?
Carl Spector: Possession of prescription drugs without a prescription is becoming a very big and common occurrence in our society. Ambien is a common one, as well as Xanax, and Zoloft. It’s illegal to transport these substances without your prescription.
If you’re transporting those substances, they should be in your prescription bottle. But, we know that there’s a market for them outside of the regular marketplace and people are being arrested for the sale of theses substances.
Interviewer: I would assume that pain pills, such as Percocet, Vicodin, OxyContin and oxycodone are popular as well as the ADHD drugs Adderall or Ritalin.
How Many Charges do You Face for a Drug-Related Offense?
Carl Spector: Those are exactly the prescription drugs we’re talking about, precisely. Often what happens is when the person is found to be in possession of those illegal substances, the cocaine, the marijuana, the heroin, and the prescription drugs without a prescription, there are usually two charges that are placed on you.
One is a criminal charge, a 2C charge, possession, maybe possession with intent to distribute, depending on the amount of drugs you have in your possession.
