Two New Jersey state troopers injured by alleged drunk driver
It is reported that two New Jersey State Troopers were injured by an alleged drunk driver who struck a State Police cruiser as the troopers guarded the scene of a crash.
The incident took place around 3 a.m. Saturday morning when two troopers from Belmar Barracks were investigating a car accident on l-676 in Camden. They had stopped their car in the roadway when another car struck their car from behind while they were waiting at the scene. Both troopers were in the car at the time of crash.
The police cruiser sustained extensive damage and both troopers were taken to the Cooper University Hospital after the crash where they were treated and released. They complained of pain after the crash.
The driver of the car that struck the squad car was arrested on DWI charges. The offender, identified as 38-year-old Marlowe Valentine, was also charged with possession of marijuana.
According to police, Valentine was driving a car with New Jersey plates but he belongs to Philadelphia.
